Dr. Rajiv Kumar

Dr. Rajiv Kumar is presently the Director and Chief Executive of Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) since February 2006. From August 2004 to January 2006, Dr. Kumar was Chief Economist with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Prior to joining the CII, Dr. Kumar had worked in ADB, Manila for nearly 10 years as a Principal Economist. Dr. Kumar had earlier worked as Economic Adviser in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India from 1992-1995 and in the Bureau of Industrial Costs and Projects, Ministry of Industry from 1989-1991. He was a Professor at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade from 1987-89 and a Senior Fellow from 1982 to 1987 in ICRIER, a New Delhi based think-tank.

Dr. Kumar completed his D.Phil in Economics in 1982 from Oxford University. He has several books and publications to his credit.

Dr. Kumar contributes regularly to newspapers and journals.
