Dr. Mohsin S Khan
Dr. Mohsin S Khan is Director of the IMF Institute of the International
Monetary Fund (IMF). He holds a BA from Punjab University in Pakistan,
a BSc in economics from the London School of Economics, an MA from Columbia
University, and a PhD from the London School of Economics.
Dr. Khan joined the IMF in 1972 as an Economist in the Financial Studies
Division of the Research Department, where he held increasingly senior
positions, including Adviser, Assistant Director and Senior Adviser
of the Department. He was Deputy Director of the Research Department
before he was appointed Director of the IMF Institute in 1996. During
his career in the IMF, Dr. Khan has been involved in operations in a
number of countries, including Chile, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore,
Spain, and Venezuela.
His publications include five books and more than 100 articles on macroeconomic
and monetary policies in developing countries, economic growth, international
trade and finance, and Islamic banking. He is also on the Editorial
Board of ten academic journals. He is listed in Who's Who in Economics
(1986, 1999).
